Client has announced the launch of one of the world’s largest and most innovative sustainable landmark buildings. Ground work startred with driving an 80-metre-deep barrette; (Deep Piling Foundation system) coupled with a plunge steel column 15 metres high. This will allow the main contractor to start the super Structure Construction immediately while saving six months of construction time. The above has led to a single column-single barrettes scenario with a carrying capacity of up to 220,000 KN (22,000 Ton). This structural system is being applied for the first time in Dubai and was developed by one of the local engineering firms associated with the client. It is using the highest steel in the construction industry 600 MPa, for the first time in the UAE, which leads to the lowest usage of steel reinforcement bars, hence the lowest carbon emission. Environmental experts are currently assessing the tower which aiming to achieve LEED Platinum Certification (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) from the highest authority in green building rating systems worldwide.

Client has received offers from five construction companies. They are the local Alec, Beijing-based companies China Railway 18th Bureau and China State Construction Engineering Corporation, the local iBuild and India’s Shapoorji Pallonji.
Germany’s Bauer is working on the foundations for the tower. The consultant is the local MAK Engineering Consultancy.

The client have chosen the contractor for the iconic AED3.7 billion venture: China Railway 18th Bureau Group Ltd. The contractor was selected on a list of criteria including meeting the projected target for 36-month completion, full technical compliance for state-of-the-art quality and successful track record for mega prokects.
