DecemberIt is understood the planned seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO) scheme is being considered urgent and that the client may appoint a team of consultants soon.
- 25th
JanuaryThe developer is in negotiation with the consultancy firms regarding the transaction advisory and expected to appoint the consultants soon.
- 15th
FebruaryClient invited developers or developer consortiums to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) by the deadline of 4 March 2021 at 12:00 p.m. for the first stage of the tender process. Interested parties are requested to submit their EOI via electronic copy to: ewec.m2RO@ewec.ae.
Following review of the EOIs, EWEC will issue the Request for Qualifications (RFQ) to proceed to the next stage. The successful developer or developer consortium will own up to 40 percent of the entity while the remaining equity will be primarily held indirectly by the Abu Dhabi Government. Client aims to achieve financial close by the end of 2021. The target date for the project to commence commercial operations is in the first quarter of 2024. It has appointed an advisory team of Alderbook, White & Case and Fichtner as financial, legal and technical advisers respectively.
